Biography

Alex is an Energy & Freight Market Strategist in Thenamaris Ships Management and the Founding Chairman of the Greek Energy Forum, an international energy think tank focusing on SE Europe and featuring today 6 global branches. In his current professional role in Thenamaris, he is responsible for the analysis of the oil and freight markets in support of the chartering strategy for a tanker fleet of 51 vessels.

Ahead of his current post, Alex has held the position of the Senior Gas Analyst in Shell Energy Europe in London, leading a team for the analysis of gas markets’ fundamentals and being the focal point for European gas trading analytics for senior management within the Group. In the past, he has also been a member of the Business Development Team, focusing on the origination and negotiation of complex energy deals with major international companies.

Prior to Shell, Alex has worked for Gazprom Marketing & Trading as a Strategy Risk Analyst for new market entries and innovative commercial products/structured deals on gas, electricity, carbon permits and biomass. He also possesses consulting experience, having worked in Mott MacDonald within the energy economics and finance team in the UK.

Since April-16 he is a member of the United Nations Group of Gas Experts (Sustainable Energy Committee of UN Economic Commission Europe) as a representative of the Greek Energy Forum. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the sea entrepreneurship competition “Blue Growth”.

He holds an MEng in Electrical Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and an MSc on Sustainable Energy Futures from Imperial College in London.
